Dear
Sir/Madam
I am writing following an article that I recently read in the South
Wales Argus regarding a possible change to the way that recycling
is carried out in the Caerphilly County Borough. Changes to
the current system, by reverting to the household sorting system
with various boxes would be a serious step backwards. I would
go as far as to say that the system that is currently employed in
the County should be rolled out across Wales as the standard.
With the household sort system, householders have to find storage
for various boxes which is usually outdoors, resulting in rubbish
blowing around the streets from the boxes. this is further
reinforced on Recycling Day when the slightest breeze results in
paper waste being blown everywhere.
I for one, have recycled more material with the single mix bin
recyling than previously. Everyone I have spoken to has said
how much easier the current system is with the net result being
recyling levels rising.
So I emplore you. Do not enforce a reversal of the system with the
Caerphilly County Bourgh and please give serious consideration to
rolling this sytem out across Wales as I am convinced that this
would result in recyling levels increasing dramatically.
Sincerely
Ian Powe
